Macular Degeneration Awareness
Macular Degeneration is a disease caused by the deterioration of the central part of the retina known as the macula. Symptoms include dark splotches obstructing central vision, blurry vision, and wavy vision. Many professions, creative in particular, depend on vision, and losing that sense is a devastating blow to professional and personal life. This awareness campaign shows how artistic masterpieces would look through eyes with Macular Degeneration.
Macular Degeneration is most common in adults 55 and older. Since its development is slow, people do not consider the prospect of losing their vision to a disease they've never heard of. This is why my primary target is 20-40 year old artists. I want this audience to learn more about this disease and think about how their current habits could affect their vision later in life.
I created a blog as an informative and personal storytelling tool. My Grandfather was a woodcarver who lost his vision to Macular Degeneration. With the blog, I could inform the audience and tell my Grandfather's story.
